Finally, Luke focused on several themes that originated in the Isaiah texts that are helpful for us to recognize. Luke builds his narrative and continually circles back to these four ideas:
- ἑτοιμάζω (prepared)
- σωτήριόν (salvation)
- μάρτυρες (witness)
- πάντα τὰ ἔθνη (to all nations)
God has prepared salvation, and Jesus has sent witnesses of it to all nations. These four words are central to Luke’s narrative, and to his life. In the same way, they should be central to the message of the every narrator of the gospel, and to his life.
